The Engineer Utilisation Report provides insight into how engineers spend their working hours across different job priorities and service activities.
This report helps managers and team leads to:
Monitor actual worked time against the scheduled shift time.
Review how engineer time is allocated across priorities such as Breakdown (BD), Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), Work Orders (WO), and Monitoring (MONT).
Identify highly utilised and underutilised engineers.
Support workforce planning and resource optimisation.
This report provides visibility into engineer productivity and helps ensure engineering resources are aligned with operational demand.
Getting There
To access the Engineer Utilisation Report in Service Geeni:
Open the Business Intelligence module.
Select the KPI Viewer sub-module.
Locate and select the Engineer Utilisation report.
(Optional) Select the gear icon on the report tile to add or modify filters before generating the report.
Available Filters and Their Impact
The following filters can be used to refine the report data:
Branch: Filters the report based on the selected branch or depot. By default, the report uses the branch selected in the main Service Geeni interface.
Period: Filters the report based on the date range used to calculate engineer utilisation.
Tip: Use shorter periods to review weekly performance and longer periods to identify utilisation trends over time.
Tabs and Charts
The report has multiple tabs and chart options:
Tabs
By Type – Displays the total percentage of worked time each engineer spent on specific priority types.
Detailed – Shows detailed information of engineers with the -time worked per shift and priority.
Column Breakdown and Key Fields
Column Name | Description |
Engineer | Name of the engineer. |
Shift Minutes | Total scheduled shift minutes for the selected period. |
Worked Minutes | Total minutes worked during the selected period. |
% Total | Percentage of worked minutes compared to scheduled shift minutes. |
Priority | Job priority or category, such as BD, PPM, WO, or MONT. |
Priority Worked Minutes | Total minutes worked against the selected priority. |
Priority % Total | Percentage of worked time allocated to the priority. |
Shifts | Comma-separated list of shift IDs included in the calculation. |
Insight: Monitoring engineer utilisation helps ensure workloads are distributed effectively and provides visibility into how engineering resources are being used. Regular review can highlight underutilised capacity, identify potential resource constraints, and support informed scheduling decisions.
