Export a report - what format will it be in?
When you export the data it will be an Excel XLS or CSV, and will be named according to the title of the component.
NOTE there is a limit within windows on length of a file name (MAX_PATH limit to 256 characters). You may need to change the text length of the table name to save the export of data.
What can I do with a report that I have created and exported?
How do I choose which type of table I require?
If you need calculated column/s or measure/s you will need a Pivot Table
If you just want to use the data fields available as there appear within the dataset then you can use a datatable.
Why cannot I see/use the field from another table - it is greyed out
Not all tables are linked, however, this could depend on your SG platform. Contact your implementation consultant at Service Geeni, or internal support manager.
I wanted to have the same report but for a different customer, how do I create this?
You could copy a report (duplicate) and change the filter (on each component within the dashboard). However you can use a slicer which you can link to multiple tables and charts within the dashboard, thus using the same dashboard but changing the reporting data as required.

Can you apply formatting to more than one component without having to apply to each individually?
Yes, if the component is the same type or has the same format type in common i.e Border
How to
Can I apply the same Inspector settings to multiple Components in the dashboard?
Yes, highlight all the components you want to make changes to, either by dragging over them or using Ctrl click and select each one required.
How do I change the units of amount displayed?
Select component, go to inspector, go to Display Unit.
Note: The default is Auto. Change to none for display Unit Anything less than a Thousand.
Options: Thousands, Millions, Billions, Trillions.
How do I know which field/s to select, in order display the correct information required within a dashboard?
It may be that there is another field with the same naming convention, that does have the link to the table and therefore the field that’s required sequentially. Datafields link in different ways to different modules (datatables) within Service Geeni. So, sourcing the correct datatable links that has the datafields that you require may take some trial and error.
Example: The tables and their datafields are not always sequentially linked as you need them. It may be for example that you would like to link “EquipmentID” to a “CustomerContact”, but to do this, you would also need to link to a datafield for “CustomerSite” to then be able to view the “CustomerContact” field for use.
EXAMPLE: The below uses fields mostly from the “Equipment” and “HireContract” tables, so where possible use the one/s that makes sense, in this example use the second one down from the “HireContract” table.
Note: To understand which one is the correct datafield to select (as there are several datafields named the same) but are sourced from different modular areas within the Service Geeni platform, you will need to know which data you wish to pull.
For example: The screen above shows datafields that are named the same “ContractNumber” from datatable’s:
“ESSHistory”
“HireContract”
“ServiceContractSequence”
“Uplifts”
You can see that the data pulled through is very different.
Why is it data different but has same name
In this example: The Contract Number will be different from Service Contract to Hire Contract . Depending on purpose of dashboard use datafield from module that is relevant. However, the Contract Number from Job, ESS and ServiceContractSequence are the same, as are all related.
Check the data by reviewing the Module and the data returned.
How do I tell which table a datafield comes from ?
If you hover over a datafield, a pop up displays showing the datatable name in ‘ ‘.
I can’t export the data; I only get options for PPT or PNG?
When exporting data there are two options. Thinking about where the information is will help locate the correct export icon.
If you want to export the data behind a report (table etc) then use the export icon on that component.
Select the Export icon.
If you want to export the dashboard (look, feel and layout (especially if you have charts)), use the export on the preview dashboard menu.
After exporting the format of the data has been lost
When in dashboard preview mode, hover over the component (in this example a Pivot Table) until the component toolbar appears. Click on Export icon
, Export Data, Save as..
Note: It will be named the “Title” of the component in this example “Jobs”
Open the export into Excel. For a pivot table there are 2 tabs, on the Datasheet
Note: You will notice the date formatting isn’t the same as that of the Dashboard. This is because the data is passed straight from the database to the export tool, ignoring any formatting applied to your SSR dashboard.
Note: You may notice that some of the times have milliseconds in addition to hours, minutes, seconds – this is generally when a timestamp is created on a mobile.
Removing the T between Date and Time after Exporting Data to Excel
Insert a column to the right of the column you want to split.
Highlight the column to be split using the text to columns split icon on the Data menu.
Delimited, in “Other” type T, Click Finish. It will state there is Already data here – this is because the new column has Column 1.
If you don’t require the time, delete this column.
How do I format column in Excel to the correct cell format
Highlight column, right hand click, Format Cells.
Can I move or copy a page or component to a different dashboard?
You can either copy the component/s from within a dashboard or by using the Visual Gallery.
Use copy, cut and paste if you need use components within the same dashboard this will work between pages (tabs).
QUICK TIP: Duplicate the dashboard, rename then remove pages and components not required then make changes as required.
Use the Visual Gallery icon on the Dashboard Toolbox.
QUICK TIP: To make it easier to select the correct component use Scenario Name within the dashboard to distinguish.
Once you have selected the required component, drag over into your Dashboard, the scenerio componet is no longer linked to the orginal and will be given a new scenerio name.
Note: You cannot select a compent Scenerio from the Dashboard it exists in.
Why do I get no data found?
Reasons behind why you might get a “No Data Found” result.
The link is not exactly where you think it is, so the tables are linked but the fields are linked in a different way (order) this is because of how the data flows in SG.
E.g., the link could be going from CustomerSite > Equipment > Customer
If the site you are looking at doesn’t have any equipment, then it won’t find a customer record, so would not work as expected but it is working the away the DB table and field/s are linked.
This happens when using a pivot table if one of the tables in the chain does not contain a record or you aren’t including one of the columns in the values section.
Note: it is always best to use data fields from the same datatable where possible, as there is less lag, the DB does not have to process so many requests.
Note: If report has Null and/or Blank fields you may want to display these fields as a 0 or a dash (-) as an example or even just empty.
How do I view the next page of the Dashboard in Preview
The next page of a dashboard in preview mode is display by the small area at the bottom middle of screen there will also be right and left arrow appear when you hover over.

How do I rename a report?
From main Documents (SSR Home page) Click on the ellipses
next to the document you would like to rename, Rename
Can you apply formatting to more than one component without having to apply to each individually?
Yes, if the component is the same type or has the same format type in common i.e Border. Select the component/s by using Ctrl+Click or sweep over components.
How do I choose which type of table I require?
If you just want to use the data fields available as there appear within the dataset then you can use a Data Table.
If you need calculated column/s or measure/s you will need a Pivot Table. Also, if you want to display more complicated totalling of the data. A pivot table will generally take longer to draw – so if the extra functionality of a pivot is not required use a Data Table.
Why can't I see/use the field from another table - it is greyed out
Not all tables are linked, however, this could depend on your SG platform. Contact your implementation consultant at Service Geeni, or internal support manager.
I wanted to have the same report but for a different customer, how do I create this?
You could copy a report (duplicate) and change the filter (on each component within the dashboard). However, you can use a slicer which you can link to multiple tables and charts within the dashboard, thus using the same dashboard but changing the reporting data as required.
What is the different between a calculated column and a measure?
Both help enable you to extract more data from your data model with the help of analytical expressions.
Measures are generally used to perform aggregate operations such as total, count, average, percentage.
Calculated columns are used to perform row-by-row calculations on the target table.
I don’t know the name of datafield (name unknown), how can I look for it?
To find a datafield, navigate down and expand table/s. You may have to try a few fields to find the correct one.
To view the data from the dataset and datafield, drag onto a Data Table to view.
Note: Think about the module in SG where the data you would like to use current resides, the table is probably named something similar.
How do you identify the different types of datafield ? i.e a calculated column from a measure
The type of datafield is symbolised as below
| Icon |
#- Numeric |
|
ABC – Text Field |
