What is SSR?

Self Service Reports enables you to use your data in Service Geeni to create reports and dashboards.

SSR is comparable to using tools like Power BI, and it's beneficial to have someone in your business who is knowledgeable in this area or something similar. Proficiency in Excel is also advantageous, as well as having an understanding of data structures similar to that of a business analyst. Additionally, knowledge of the data structure within Service Geeni is advantageous.

However, there is a visualisation tool which takes some of the grunt work out, it's simpler to use but does require some basic understanding.

Dashboard & Reports

What is the difference between a dashboard and a report?

They are basically the same thing in SSR, often these terms are intertwined.

A dashboard/report will give the ability to use data from Service Geeni, this could be for reporting purposes and or graphical interpretation.

What is a dashboard report?

A dashboard report is everything that is saved on one document in SSR, this can include tables and charts.

Data Structure

Let's talk about data structure!

  • Your account within Service Geeni is your datamodel and the structure that the SSR datatables will follow.

  • Within Service Geeni we have modules, in SSR these are called datatables.

Datamodel: yourcompanyname.servicegeeni.com

Datatables Look like this:

Datatables contain data fields. These data fields are replicated across various datatables, so it is IMPORTANT to use data fields from the same table (where possible) as this helps with how the information is used and the speed SSR accesses the database, where the data is kept in Service Geeni.

For example, if you want a report on Jobs, use all the details required for the report from the Jobs table.

So, use the Customer Account name from the Jobs table and not the Customer Account table.

Data Table Links

Some tables are linked but only where there is a workable flow of data.

  • If you are using data from one datatable, another may be greyed out. It may be that the same data field can be found on another table that is linked to the required data.

ABC & # are examples of data field types.

Data Fields

  • Data Fields, this is where the data for that field is accessed.

Reports and how to use them

Report Dashboards can be used to export data and/or to create reports, such as creating reports that are emailed to your customers using Scheduled Reports.
