Let's get started!
Service Geeni now supports a new accounts integration using a third-party platform called Merge.dev. This integration allows Service Geeni to connect with a wide range of accounting packages through a single point, enabling customers to sync core financial and master data without a bespoke integration for each product.
Merge.dev acts as an intermediary between Service Geeni and your accounting system, providing a standardised data pipeline across multiple vendors.
Service Geeni will continue to maintain and expand its own native integrations for commonly used accounting packages, such as:
Xero
QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Sage 50/ 200
Getting There
To set this up, head over to your System Settings. This is located within the settings Cog at the top right of the screen.
Click on Settings and select System Settings.
When the page opens, you will land on the Company Address page.
Scroll down to the Account Package Integration Profile section at the bottom of the page.
At the bottom of the window, click Edit.
Step 1: Account Link Setup
From the Type field:
Select Merge from the dropdown.
Click the Merge button.
Select your account packages from the window to link them.
When you select an option, you'll be prompted to provide permissions.

Click through the stages until you're asked to open the login window.
How the Integration Works
The Merge.dev integration follows Service Geeni’s standard five integration touchpoints:
Touchpoint | Direction | Description |
Download Customers | Accounts to Service Geeni | Sync customer records from your accounting system into Service Geeni |
Download Suppliers | Accounts to Service Geeni | Sync supplier records from your accounting system into Service Geeni |
Push Sales Invoices | Service Geeni to Accounts | Post sales invoices created in Service Geeni into your accounting system |
Push Purchase Invoices | Service Geeni to Accounts | Post purchase invoices created in Service Geeni into your accounting system |
Push Journals | Service Geeni to Accounts | Post journal entries from Service Geeni into your accounting system |
Important Limitations
Because Merge.dev acts as an intermediary platform, there are some important constraints to be aware of.
24-Hour Sync Window:
Accounting data is first synced from your accounting package into Merge.dev.
Service Geeni then pulls data from Merge.dev into the platform.
On the current Merge.dev package, data is only refreshed once every 24 hours.
This means:
Changes made to your accounting package by a customer or supplier may take up to 24 hours to appear in Service Geeni.
These native integrations are not affected by the Merge.dev 24-hour sync limitation and will remain the preferred option where available.
Using with Iplicit
When Service Geeni pushes financial transactions via Merge.dev to an accounting package like Iplicit, each transaction type is sent with the appropriate accounting document code.
For Iplicit specifically, the following document codes are used:
Transaction | Iplicit Code |
Sales Invoice | SISTD |
Sales Credit | SCR |
Purchase Invoice | APDIJ |
Purchase Credit | PCN |
Journal | MJ |
