Let's discover how to add new, create, view, delete and edit Delivery Methods.

The Delivery Method feature enables you to easily select a Delivery Method when raising Sales Orders.

It is important to note that this feature is User and module access dependent; to enable it you need to speak to your admin or customer support team.

Getting There

You can find the Delivery Method feature when editing or creating a new Sales Order.

  • Head to the Stock menu and select Sales Order.

  • Then, using the Action Tray, click on the edit icon to open the editor window.

  • You will find the Delivery Method field towards the bottom of the screen.

Adding a Delivery Method

Now that you are in the editor, you can find the Delivery Method field towards the bottom of the page.

  • You can click on the ellipsis to select or add more options.

  • The selection will open. Here, you can choose one of the available options, or you can create a new delivery method with the Add button.

  • As you can see, there is a lot of functionality within the Delivery Method field. Use the ellipsis in each field to open a selection list.

  • Code: The first thing you need to do is to enter a Code (aka the name) for the new delivery method, which can be text and or numbers.

  • Description: Then you can add a description.

  • Default Delivery Charge: Enter the Amount for the Default Delivery Charge.

Pro Tip: The Default Delivery Charge can be overwritten when selecting this option, i.e. adding to a Sales order at that point.

  • Package Type: This is where you can define what the package is, e.g. boxes or pallets.

  • You can choose one of the available options or create a new one with the +Add button.

  • When you create a new one, give the new Package Type a name and description.

  • Once you are happy with the creation, click Save and select the new package type from the list.

  • Transport Provider: This field specifies what transport is used, such as a delivery courier service or self-delivery.

  • Now, choose a method from the list, or create a new one with a simple click on the Add button.

  • Add the Courier name and give it a description.

  • When you are satisfied, click Save.

  • Costs: Enter the Amount for the Cost of that Delivery Method.

TIP: This is usual when reporting on actual cost versus charged, etc.

  • Is Collect Signature Required: Tick this box if a signature is required on collection or if delivered.

  • VAT Code: Here you can enter the desired VAT Codes.

Congratulations! You have created a new Delivery Method.

Creating new Delivery Methods from System Defaults.

To speed things up, you can create Default Delivery Methods through System Defaults. When choosing a delivery method in this section, you can set it as the system's Default method as well. First Class Post is the current setting.

  • Head to System Settings and select the System Defaults tab.

  • From here, scroll down until you get to the Sales Order section.

When you find the Delivery Method field:

  • Click on the ellipsis to add a new delivery method and follow the steps from before (Click here).

  • You can also edit a previously created one via the Action Tray.

Congratulations! You have now set your default Delivery Method.
